Age
If your driveway is asphalt and over 20 years old, it's time to replace it. Concrete over 25 years old should also be replaced.
Cracks
A crack narrower than a quarter-inch can usually be repaired. Wider than that, replacement is the smarter long-term fix — a repair on a large crack is just a band-aid.
Drainage Issues
Drainage problems are often no big deal and can simply be repaired rather than requiring a full replacement.
